One vocabulary for Europe

EUNIS organises habitats in levels, from broad seabed types such as infralittoral sand to specific communities such as a Posidonia meadow. Using its codes lets maps from different countries be merged and compared.

Choosing the right level

Map at the level your data supports. Acoustic data alone often reaches the broad levels; detailed communities need ground-truth observations.

A shared classification is what turns local maps into a European picture.
